The Southern Tablelands Football Association (STFA) has opened a mid week women's competition to be played at Seiffert Oval on Wednesday and Thursday nights under lights.
STFA director Craig Norris said anyone who wants to join can still do so as the competition has only just been advertised.
"All the clubs out there are actively getting their teams ready," Norris said.
"It's for girls aged 14 upwards and they can also still play in the weekend competitions if they want."
The season has to wrap up before the end of August so the Goulburn District Cricket Association can get the cricket pitch ready, while the goals used also have to be portable.
The STFA will also have to keep in mind the Goulburn Cycle Club use it on a Friday.
"We'll use the goals on wheels so we can roll them out and remove them after each weeknight," Norris said.
"We can't keep it there permanently as there could be accidents for the cyclists.
"Our aim is to move the field closer to the grandstand side so that it will be on the far wing and not down the centre of the field.
"That way, it won't affect the cricket pitch."
Only one match will be able to be played at a time.
For those thinking about taking part in the new competition, Norris said there is no better time to do so.
"The women's game is getting a lot of attention on the back of the Matildas," he said.
"There's a lot of resources being put into womens' football.
"Now's the time to get on board."
The competition is expected to begin in early May.
