Goulburn RSL Sub-Branch president Gordon Wade has urged residents to stand in their driveway at 6am for a couple of moments of silence.

"If they've got a flag, even if it's a small one - it doesn't matter what size it is - they can hold it or hang it on their fence," Mr Wade said.

Mr Wade said he would lay a wreath on behalf of the sub-branch at the Belmore Park honour roll.

He would also raise a flag in the park to half-mast until midday and then to full height at midday.

He invites other individuals to lay a wreath at the honour roll during Anzac Day.

"[By doing this] it just goes to show that it doesn't matter what is put in front of us, we still take a moment or two out of our busy and restricted lives to remember and honour our servicemen and women," Mr Wade said.

"There'd be hardly anyone in Goulburn who hasn't had a family member in the armed services," he said.

RSL NSW is also encouraging Australians to watch the nationally-televised Anzac Day service from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

The coverage begins at 5am, with the service starting at 5.30am. You can catch it on ABCTV, iview, radio and online.

Later in the morning, at 11.30am, there will be a two-minute reflection which includes The Ode, The Last Post followed by a minute silence.

At 6.55pm, the Governor-General, David Hurley, will give his Anzac Day message.

Mr Wade has been a member of the RSL since 1986 and sub-branch president since 2001.

He said the sub-branch's Anzac Day service has always been well-attended and attendance has grown each year for the past ten years.

"The dawn service has probably trebled in size since the early 2000s," he said.

Goulburn's Anzac Day commemorations usually start with a traditional dawn service at 5.30am in Belmore Park, followed by an Anzac Day march on Auburn Street, which proceeds to Belmore Park for the main service at about 11.45am.
