The experience of the company as a consultant for the 21km Rosewood to Tumbarumba rail trail pilot project was drawn for the Goulburn proposal.
The 56km Goulburn to Crookwell rail trail proposal would see the former railway line converted into a rail trail for cyclists and walkers.
The project has been under consideration since 2015 and new developments have taken place since the official opening of the Rosewood to Tumbarumba rail trail in April 2020.
Cr Kirk said that they had been waiting to see the feedback on the pilot project and will be meeting with members of the government next week to discuss the Goulburn trail.
"We are hoping that completion of that project is going to guide the future rail trail development across the state," mayor and Goulburn to Crookwell Rail Trail Inc chairman Bob Kirk said.

The latest review by the Wollongong based company in June has estimated the total cost of the project to be $14.16m.
A feasibility study on the proposal had stated that it could bring over 30,000 people a year in Goulburn, 10,000 overnight stays, and 23,000 local users a year.
"Around 350 local users on an average use the walking track along the Wollondilly River a day. That's a considerable value to the local community," Cr Kirk said.
"Within a 2.5-hour drive to Goulburn, 75% of the total population of NSW could access this trail. It has the ability to be utilised by people who do not have access to a nature-based recreational facility.
"In doing so, they will generate around $3.4 million per annum for the local economies of Goulburn and Crookwell."
