The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to never licensed person driving a vehicle in March.
Goulburn Local Court heard on July 22 that the girl was driving two of her drunk friends home from a party in Crestwood when they were pulled over by police.
Representing herself in court, the girl said "I shouldn't have done it, it was bad."
The 17-year-old said the group did not have enough money for a cab that night.
"I wasn't thinking straight," she said.
Magistrate Geraldine Beattie questioned the logic behind having enough money for alcohol but not a cab.
She said it would've been an "easy walk" to the trio's final destination.
"You risked two drunk friends' lives," Magistrate Beattie said.
The girl said she was peer pressured into driving.
After failing the knowledge test required to get her L's, the girl said she just "never went to go get it again".
The Magistrate said "you were not able to pass the test and here you are driving two people around."
The 17-year-old had two jobs and lived out of home. The court heard she usually walked or got her mother to drive her to work.
The Magistrate said she showed responsibility by working but then made "a decision like this".
Magistrate Beattie took the early guilty plea and the girl's age into account.
She received a $300 fine..
