"Because of the long term planning involved by the committee and the entrants, the impossibility of holding satisfactory planning meetings along with the risk of the Covid-19 virus still preventing large numbers gathering, we could see no other alternative than to cancel this event that we and so many exhibitors and visitors look forward to and enjoy each year," a statement issued by the GDAS states.
President Helen De Jonge feels that things are uncertain at this point due to the pandemic.
"We are not sure if the Goulburn Workers Club, where the event is held, will be open. Things are a bit unsure at this point," she said.
"Unfortunately, we have made the decision to cancel the event this year. We will hopefully have a bigger and better event next year."
Artists travel from different states including New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria travel to Goulburn to be a part of the event.
The event has been running for over 15 years in Goulburn.
In 2019, 257 works from 74 artists were showcased on the opening night of the 2019 Goulburn and District Art Society's annual art prize event.
