To celebrate the first ever Australian Tourist Trophy race back in April 1914, a monument was built in Collector to remember those who helped pave the way for Goulburn's prominence in motorcycling history.

A small group of Goulburn Classic Riders' Club (GCRC) members got together on July 23 to erect the monument consisting of a rock and a plaque with the race placegetters written on it.
The idea first sparked within Collector's Historical Society and was supported by the club.
GCRC vice president Garry Suddell said there was a slight standstill in the process before he picked up the baton and ran the course of accessing rocks and organising for the placement of the monument.

"Years ago, the club donated the Historical Society money to facilitate the building of the monument," Mr Suddell said.
"They had a big idea on how it was to be done, but it was far too costly.
"I did all the ground work for the sign to be cut out at a metal shop in Canberra.
"We are thinking of adding photos of the race to the rock which were taken by glass negatives."
In April 1914, riders from all over the country came to participate in the triangular circuit race which started off from Yarra to Breadalbane across to Collector and then back to Yarra, totalling a distance of around 33 miles.
The monument was produced by Precision Metals Queanbeyan.
