The students from Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands public high schools have been congratulated by Department of Education Executive Director, Mark Barraket.

Featuring in the Top Achievers List 2 were Mitchell Wilson from Moss Vale who came second in the state for the Construction Exam, and Connor Theyers from Bowral who came ninth in the Maths Standard 1 Examination.

Mr Barraket said while every student who secured their goals by successfully completing the HSC deserved the heartiest congratulations, those listed on achievement lists by NESA (the NSW Educational Standards Authority, which administers the HSC), deserved to receive special accolades.

"As results are released, it is a time to celebrate the successes of all of our students," Mr Barraket said.

"2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone, but we are very pleased to hear so many great stories of achievement from our public schools across the Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands.

"We are very proud of how schools have educated and supported students who have ranked among the best in the state, and nurtured every student so they could work towards achieving their own personal goals.

"Our public schools have played an important role in helping students understand that any individual can have diverse goals so success will take many different forms.

"That's why today we congratulate those who have ranked with the state's best and everyone who has fulfilled what they need to take the next step into the future."
