Local councils have given citizens a new weapon in their arsenal to stay safe, launching an online disaster dashboard that combines real-time, local emergency information.
It will help residents be aware of, prepare for and respond to local emergencies.
Upper Lachlan Council's disaster dashboard can be found here.
"Localised emergency updates, preparedness advice and seasonal awareness of potential risks is more important than ever," Mayor Bob Kirk said.
"Our residents are acutely aware of the impact emergencies can have on communities following the past bushfire season, extended drought and other severe hazard events."
The disaster dashboard is an online warehouse of real-time, local emergency information supported by Resilience NSW's Regional Disaster Preparedness Program and rolled out to 27 councils across the state.
It has information from and links to the RFS, SES, Triple 0, and weather radar, among other sources.
On each dashboard you'll find:
- real-time information related to live emergencies
- information to help you prepare for an emergency
- guidance on the assistance you can access to recover from a recent emergency
