The imagination of 11 young writers came alive for the Mighty Playwright project last year and their stories were later staged by actors on the Lieder Theatre and filmed.
The project is run by Goulburn Mulwaree Library, in partnership with the Lieder Theatre Company, Greg Angus, and Field and Film.

Greg Angus, Mighty Playwrights project partner and curriculum coordinator at Ss Peter and Paul's Primary School, accepted the award during Australia Day celebrations today and said that the project has given young people the ability to find their voice.
"The project was based on the idea that we can never underestimate the power of a story that is well-told. The project is proud of it's first successful year in which young writers began their journey of finding their stories and voices as writers," he said.
"This was a community effort fuelled by generosity and I want to thank everyone who has been involved in it. Mighty Playwrights is looking to continue in Goulburn."
Meanwhile, Erin Williams, manager of Goulburn Mulwaree Library, had earlier said, "The Goulburn Mulwaree Library's Mighty Playwrights program uses literacy education and performing arts to empower young people to discover their voices and have them heard."
Goulburn Mulwaree Library received a grant funding through Festivals Australia for the project last year and had plans have a live performance in the Lieder Theatre by actors. However, due to Covid restrictions, the stage plays were instead filmed by Field & Film.
The documentary and filmed performances of the plays are available online here.
The project was presented at Artstate Wagga Wagga, a Regional Arts NSW arts conference and festival in November 2020.
Mighty Playwrights project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Department of Communications and the Arts' Festivals Australia program.
