"With the most people competing in the 50m races, it was set to be one of the most competitive and unusual days in St Joseph's history," Harper said.
"The day started with a grey and chilly morning as people boarded the bus.
"As soon as we got to the pool, the weather cleared and it was going to be an awesome day for a swimming carnival.
"It started with the tiring, but thrilling 100 m freestyle races.
"Everyone was cheering so loud that I could not hear my own breath.
"Next was the fast and breathtaking 50 m sprint, which was the main event everyone was competing in.
"That was followed by the unpredictable backstroke which is a hard stroke due to not being able to see in front of you.
"After that was breaststroke which is a stroke you are either good or bad at, before it was time for the exhausting butterfly which is a challenge to do unless you are decent at it.
"The final two races were the 200m medley and team relays.
"Loreto House won the senior competition and Lordes the junior."
