According to the Local Government Act, "Where a serving councillor is elected to State Parliament they will not be disqualified from holding office for the balance of their term of office as a councillor of two years (whichever is the shorter period)."
In a statement, Mrs Tuckerman said she was able to continue holding civic office until she resigned, or the second anniversary of her election, following the postponement of local government elections in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"My second anniversary on my election to State Parliament was on March 23, as a result my position on council is now vacant," Mrs Tuckerman said.
A former Boorowa Mayor and Hilltops administrator, Mrs Tuckerman thanked the council and community for their support during her 17 year tenure.
"I wish to take this opportunity to thank the community for the great honour to represent them since first being elected to Boorowa Council in 2004," she said.
"I also wish to thank the staff of the former Boorowa Council and now the Hilltops Council whom I have had the pleasure of working with during this period.
"Although the last term of council has been difficult I continue to hope that with good leadership and community engaged councillors, Hilltops Council can continue to meet the expectations of the ratepayers of all communities.
"I also take this opportunity to thank the many councillors I have worked with over the years and commend their community leadership and desire to serve their communities.
"Although I am sure there will be critics of the work we have achieved there is no doubt some of the highlights for me would be changing the face of Boorowa with the main street upgrade, transforming the Boorowa Showground amenity for all users with first class facilities, securing the CSIRO Agriculture Research Facility in making Boorowa their home, supporting the Anzac Centenary commemorations, finally getting overtaking lanes and making the Lachlan Valley Way safer for all road users and replacing all timber bridges in the former Boorowa LGA.
"I am proud to continue to represent the Goulburn electorate constituents in my capacity as their State Member."
