The initiative aims to raise funds for a specialist Parkinson's nurse in the greater Goulburn area. Parkinson's is an insidious disease with a wide variety of symptoms, it usually affects people over 60 but can be diagnosed in people as young as 30.
Mr Bisset said there was no known cure for the disease. He said the number of people diagnosed was growing, exacerbated by an ageing population.
"Many suffer in silence as the symptoms creep up without warning and degrade quality of life, sometimes slowly and sometimes with rapid onset," Mr Bisset said.
Parkinson's NSW is currently in discussion with the local health district about a nurse for the Goulburn area. Mr Bisset, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2014, said a specialist nurse "would make all the difference in the lives of patients, carers, and their families".
To top off the night multi-award winning magician Jonas Jost will amaze guests with table magic and an interactive stage performance. Jonas specialises in leaving guests spellbound with incredible magic and in stitches with quick wit and clever comedy.
The Shakin' cocktail Party will be held on April 16 at 6pm at the Goulburn Workers club. Tickets cost $70 per head and include dinner, drinks, the show and more. Bookings essential, call 4821 3355.
