Leading at the 62nd minute mark, the Bulldogs were feeling comfortable, but a lapse in concentration led to their downfall in the Canberra Region Rugby League first grade contest.
Following their 38-20 loss at Seiffert Oval on Saturday, April 24, Bulldogs coach Tyson Greenwood said his side was still in a good spot.
"The Blues are expected to be the heavyweights of the competition and we had them on the ropes for 62 minutes," Greenwood said.
"We had an eight point lead after the hour, so we were very happy with the effort we put in.
"It's a shame we went to sleep for the last 20 minutes and let them get the roll over us."
With the Bulldogs sitting in third spot on the ladder with two wins and one loss heading into the bye, Greenwood said finishing in the top four was a big possibility.
"At the start of the season, we set ourselves a goal to be a top four team," he said.
"I think that's definitely achievable given the results we've had.
"Over the next month, you really start to nut out those errors and start playing some good footy.
"Hopefully, we capitalise on our combinations, stay injury free and start putting a few more wins together."

The team had a light week during their bye because a few of the players pulled up sore, but it will be back to hard work this week as they prepare for the undefeated Gungahlin Bulls.
"I've watched their games and I know they'll be tough," he said.
"They're quite a skillful young side, so we'll match them with intensity and come up with the win."
The Bulls match will be at the Goulburn Workers Arena on Sunday, May 9.
