
Make sure your houses and cars are locked, Hume Police District tells residents.
After a rise in the incidents of break-ins was reported from Goulburn and Yass areas, the Hume PD has asked residents of Yass and Goulburn to be vigilant and ensure that their houses and cars are locked.
"Target hardening is a strategy to ensure you don't become an easy victim of these crimes," the Hume PD Facebook page states.
It further states that investigations are underway after several vehicles were entered in the Kidd Circuit Merino Estate area in Goulburn.

Meanwhile, Goulburn residents took to social media to share their experiences about instances of vehicles break-ins, thefts and cars being stolen.
Similar incidents were reported from the Yass area as well where residents shared about their cars being stolen.
The Hume PD has shared simple steps that can help residents:
Protect vehicles from being stolen
- Never leave your keys in the ignition when not in the car, even in your driveway at home
- Always keep your car's doors and windows locked, including when driving
- Consider upgrading your car's security with a quality alarm or for older vehicles an elctronic immobiliser
- Never leave your keys in plain view either at home or in public places such as restaurants
Protect the property in the car
- Always keep your doors and windows locked when out of your car
- Never leave valuables such as mobile phones, handbags, GPS or spare change in plain view even when parked at home
- Always try to park in a well-lit or populated area
- Tradies, always lock your toolboxes and ute trays and try to avoid parking on the street at night
Protect yourself when selling your car
- Never advertise your home address when selling your car
- Always view and record any potential buyers identification
- Never let someone take your car for a test drive without any supervision
