Councillors Sam Rowland, Denzil Sturgess and Alfie Walker thanked as they step down from Goulburn Mulwaree Council

The three councillors were formally recognised for their community service, and presented with plaques as a keepsake.

"Alfie, Denzil and Sam have been wonderful advocates for our region, giving up countless hours in community service, and I would like to thank them on behalf of Goulburn Mulwaree Council" said general manager, Warwick Bennett.

"The role of a councillor can be a thankless task at times, and you must listen to the views of wide-ranging community members before making difficult decisions. These three have acted with integrity and intelligence during their service, and I wish them all the best in the future."

Cr Denzil Sturgiss was first elected to Mulwaree Shire Council in 1999 and re-elected to Greater Argyle Council, later to become Goulburn Mulwaree Council in 2004. He was re-elected in 2008, 2012 and again in 2016. He served as a Councillor in this region for 22 years.

Cr Sam Rowland was first elected to Goulburn Mulwaree Council in 2012 and was re-elected again in 2016. He served as a councillor for Goulburn Mulwaree for nine years.

Cr Alfie Walker was first elected to Goulburn Mulwaree Council in 2012 and was re-elected again in 2016. Cr Walker served as deputy mayor from 2016 to 2018, and served as a councillor for nine years.
