COVID cases within the Southern NSW Local Health District have increased on the last reporting period.

Authorities confirmed on Wednesday morning that 669 positive cases were detected in the 24 hours to 8pm. Tuesday. It came after 536 on Tuesday and the death of two men aged in their 90s and 70s in Goulburn Mulwaree and Bega Valley Shire respectively.

The Goulburn Mulwaree man's death was the first for the region. A spokeswoman said he was double vaccinated but due to privacy considerations, could not provide further details on where he resided and whether he was in hospital at the time.
Of the latest 669,a total 554 were detected by PCR and 115 by rapid antigen tests.
The Far South Coast registered the biggest jump with 142 and 118 in Bega Valley and Eurobodalla respectively. Ninety-four cases were recorded in Goulburn Mulwaree, 14 in Upper Lachlan, 151 in Queanbeyan Palerang, 10 in Yass Valley and 25 in Snowy Monaro.
There are 3920 active cases across the Health District, including 22 in the two COVID treating hospitals at Bega and Goulburn. Three of these are in intensive care. On Tuesday there were 14 patients in hospital.
A total 29 people with COVID-19 are under virtual care. There have been six deaths in the Health District since June, 2021.

Anyone who tests positive using a RAT is now required to register their result with Service NSW via the website or app under a Public Health Order.
