January 29, Seiffert Oval
The Goulburn Cycle Club's annual carnival is the town's biggest cycling event of the year, and one of the most anticipated in the state.
150 riders have signed on this year, which exceeds the GCC record of roughly 140 who came in 2021.
The statewide lockdown in the second half of last year has seen most cycling events curtailed, and this weekend's fixture will be one of the first large-scale competitions held.
The Junior carnival will begin from 1.30pm, with the seniors to get underway from 4.30pm.
Entry is free for spectators, with some of the top cyclists in the country expected to appear.
Goulburn Table Tennis Invitational
January 29-30, Goulburn Table Tennis Club
The Southern Country Teams Championships Table Tennis Tournament will be held for the fifth time in Goulburn this weekend.
Goulburn Table Tennis confirmed that all 20 available team slots have been filled, with ten per division. Much like the cycling, there has been very little on the NSW Table Tennis calender in recent months due to COVID-19.
As a result, this tournament has been eagerly anticipated by many players across the southern portion of the state. According to GTT, almost half of the players coming have not played in this competition before, which thrilled the club.
Play will get underway from 8am on Saturday, with the final match of the day scheduled to begin at 6pm. Sunday will start at the same time, with organisers aiming to begin the final by 4pm.
Spectators are welcome but must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination upon entry.
NSW Under 18 Girls Indoor Championships
January 28-30, Veolia Arena
Another weekend in January, another Hockey NSW Indoor State Championship set to take place in Goulburn.
This year is the second in a three-year deal between Hockey NSW and the Goulburn Mulwaree Council, which allows Veolia Arena to host the bulk of the championships, which range from Under 13s Boys and Girls through to Veteran Men and Women.
This weekend's tournament will feature 20 teams across two divisions, playing from Friday to Sunday.
The Goulburn District Hockey Association will field two teams, one in each division, both of which will likely be strong contenders.
The games will get underway from 10.30am on Friday, 9am, on Saturday, and 8am on Sunday when the finals are scheduled to be held.
Spectators are welcome but must adhere to the indoor COVID-19 guidelines.
Gordon Hope Memorial Golf Day
January 30, Goulburn Golf Club
The 11th edition of Goulburn's most meaningful golfing event of the year is set for this Sunday.
Named in honour of Gordon Hope, a former president and board member of the Goulburn Golf Club, the event raises money each year for the Melanoma Research Foundation.
A whopping $4,500 was raised during last year's event, with hopes high that this year's tally can match or even exceed that total.
Roughly 100 competitors have signed up for this year's Golf Day, with anticipation high among the golfing community.
The competition will be played as a four-person ambrose, with play to begin with a shotgun start on Sunday from 9am at the Goulburn Golf Club.
