However, still ambitious as ever, Mr Luxford is now honing his art practice after his first exhibition at the Gallery on Track.
With years of experience working with metal, Mr Luxford was inspired to experiment with a creative pursuit, making sculptures.
Using scrap metal and his skills in welding and soldering, Mr Luxford taught himself how to build sculptures.
Despite his diagnosis, Mr Luxford said his art practice hadn't come up against too many challenges.
"I just had so much metal so I started making things," he said.
"I have good use of my hands and arms, as well as a lot of determination to succeed."
Originally designed to be gifts for his friends, family and carers, Mr Luxford had his first exhibition at Gallery On Track from March 9 to March 27.
Mr Luxford said the exhibition was wonderful and he sold three of his pieces.
"I'm planning to produce more work for local markets because of the interest taken in the exhibition," he said.
Mr Luxford's inspiration for his work comes from his surroundings and his mind.
He is currently supported by the Disability Trust in Goulburn and is encouraged to pursue any venture he desires to maintain a good quality of life.
However, it is evident that Mr Luxford has plans to go above and beyond "good".
Alongside his artistic endeavors, Mr Luxford is currently organising training for pistol shooting with hopes of being accepted into the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
