Fast forward 60 years, Bob and Fay are just as much in love today as the day they met.
Fay met Bob while working as a telephonist at Rogers Goulburn.
Shortly after they met, Bob moved away with his family, but they stayed in contact through phone calls and letters.
Their romance didn't truly bloom however, until Fay went into hospital to have her appendix removed.
Bob heard through mutual friends that she was in hospital and visited her everyday.
Bob and Fay married at Goulburn Uniting Church, then the Methodist Church, and lived in St. Mary's and Yass before finally settling in Goulburn.
Their 60 year long marriage was celebrated on April 2 at their son Bryan's home in Goulburn.
Family and friends travelled from all over NSW to be there on the day and celebrate with them. A fantastic cake was made for the occasion by Chris Griffin.
Bob and Fay also received congratulatory messages from Queen Elizabeth, Governor General David Hurley, Prime Minister Scott Morrison, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, NSW Governor Margaret Beazley, Federal Member Angus Taylor and State Member Wendy Tuckerman.
Bob and Fay said one of their favourite memories was going to a toy show to see robots at the Hilton hotel in 1962.
After 60 years of marriage, Fay said sometimes a bit of space is important.
"If you have words, walk away, then come back and make up," she said.
