Friday April 29 will see the facility throw open its doors and pull back the metaphorical pool cover from 2pm until 7:45pm with entry free to the community.
Construction on external facilities was pushed back at the start of 2022 due to incessant rain with the forecourt, and southern car park among those tasks needing to be completed.
It's been a dream years in the making, beginning with the Aquatic Centre Working Party back in 2016 before funding and approval was granted in 2019 and construction commencing a year later.
Headlining the $29.8 million project is an eight lane, 25-metre indoor pool as well as a program pool, water play area, hydrotherapy pool, gym, change rooms and a cafe facing Victoria Park.
Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Peter Walker said the centre's opening would top off a big year for council.
"It will be a huge afternoon and weekend at the end of April, when we welcome families and our community into this amazing new facility," he said.
"Staff and contractors are putting the final touches on the project, and planning for our grand opening.
"Once open this the Aquatic Centre will be a wonderful new facility for our young children to learn to swim, for our residents to recover from sport or injury in the hydrotherapy pool, or for our community to swim laps or use the gym to keep fit and healthy.
"It has been an enormous year of achievement for Council as we come to the end of this project, and I look forward to seeing it well utilised following April 29."
Goulburn MP Wendy Tuckerman agreed, labelling the centre a 'crown jewel'.
"From the contributions of the original Aquatic Centre Working Party in 2016, to the NSW Government's $10 million election commitment in 2019 and Council's perseverance in continuing the pool's operations throughout the demolition and construction process to date, this has been an enormous project," she said.
"The new Aquatic Centre will not only be an asset to sport and recreation for the entire Goulburn region, it will be the crown jewel for Victoria Park alongside the Adventure Playground, Skate Park and Seiffert Oval developments."
