It appears that a backhoe struck the main during construction work near the intersection about 8.45am on September 26.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council is constructing a roundabout on the intersection to alleviate the blind turn from Mary St into Robinson.
Several cars were in the path of the water that quickly filled the low lying area near the Hume St antique shop.
Council crews were quickly called in to shut the main down so repairs could be undertaken.
