Southern Tablelands Arts (STARTS) is running a Website Building for Creatives course in four local government areas Goulburn Mulwaree, Wingecarribee, Queanbeyan-Palerang and Hilltop soon.
STARTS CEO Susan Conroy said the course costs $50 and is run in two three-hour workshops where participants will will build their your own WordPress website.
“Wordpress is a manageable tool for people to create their own websites,” Ms Conroy said.
“The whole idea is that it helps people working in arts-related fields to have an online presence. This is important in recognising not only their body of work, but also work that is going on in the creative industries in the region.
“Wordpress allows you to have a blog, links to other social media and details of your projects. This course is being run by Sean Carnes from LNS Computers. ”
Ms Conroy said this course came out of the Buil Your Own Arts Business course that ran at the start of the year
“We had 21 people participating in that eight week course and they asked for this then,” she said.
“When we spoke to people from across the region there is really strong local interest in obtaining these skills.”
This is a joint project developed by Southern Tablelands Arts and Regional Development Australia Southern Inland, who have provided the funding for the course.
Regional Development Australia Southern Inland project officer Camilla Staff said their region stretched from Bowral to Bombala.
“Part if this is supporting business. We see people in the arts sector getting an online presence as important,” Ms Staff
It is being run out of Workspace 2580 (56 Clinton Street, Goulburn). There is a chance to win $300 in website support from LNS Computers.
The course is being run in Goulburn on August 11 and 18 from 10am – 1pm. To book in for this course go to https://www.trybooking.com/QXYN For more info email ao@southerntablelandsarts.com.au
