A Corrective Services NSW spokeswoman said the inmate was suffering minor injuries.
“A 40-year-old Goulburn Correctional Centre inmate attended the screening area of the centre about 1.30pm today (September 18) with minor injuries to his head and body,” the spokesperson said.
“He has been taken by ambulance to hospital for precautionary treatment.
“Investigations are ongoing.”

There are reports of a stabbing at the Goulburn jail.
It is believed a person aged in their 40s has been stabbed in the back, allegedly with a screwdriver.
There are reports of multiple stab wounds to a person’s back and shoulder.
The person is believed to be conscious and in a stable condition.
An ambulance media spokesperson confirmed there was “a situation at the jail”.
A helicopter was on its way to Goulburn to retrieve a person who had been injured at the jail, they said.
Goulburn Police and Corrective Services have been contacted by the Goulburn Post for a response.
