His name is Reverend Paul Davey.
Anglican Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn Dr Mark Short called the father of four to see if he would be interested in the position and he accepted.
Mr Davey had plenty of experience prior to the new role.
"As a minister, I have served in three rural parishes," Mr Davey said.
"I've spent some time working for Compassion Australia which is a holistic interdenominational Christian charity.
"Before that, I was an accountant and spent a bit of time in the reserves."
The week long Goulburn resident explained what his role as minister involved and the impact he hoped to have on the community.
"At its essence, it's about teaching people from the bible and reaching out to those who haven't yet heard about Jesus," he said.
"It's about loving and caring for those, not just in the church family, but those in the community.
"There are great opportunities to care for people and great opportunities to have good conversations, especially during these times where people are thinking about matters of eternity."
They haven't been here for long, but the town has already grown on his family.
"The whole family loves Goulburn," he said.
"We think it's a great town in a beautiful area and everyone is very friendly.
"We love just being in Goulburn and that's excitement and joy in itself."
His three daughters and son are all looking forward to "making friends and joining local sporting clubs" and so is he.
"I'm looking forward to joining a football club.
"My son will definitely play football too as well as cricket while my daughters are into running.
"We also have a love of gardening and growing food."
Saint Nicholas Anglican Church has the services on Wednesday and Sunday mornings.
