The council has scored a $1,072, 884 slice of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure fund, designed to stimulate economies in the wake of coronavirus impacts.
Councillors decided at their meeting on Tuesday to put forward $400,000 worth of footpath works, $100,000 to build public toilets at Tallong and $572,884 towards the Cookbundoon amenities building.
The footpath renewals are:
- Goldsmith Street (Auburn St to Bourke St) - $45,000;
- Union Street (outside Goulburn North School) - $15,000;
- Union Street outside the Mobil service station - $10,000;
- Sydney Road (behind North Goulburn School) - $20,000;
- Sloane Street (Verner St to Clinton St) - $50,000;
- Clifford Street (Auburn St to McKell Pl) - $60,000;

New Footpaths

- Maclura Drive, Marulan (Morris Pl to Stoney Creek Road) - $25,000;
- Stoney Creek Road, Marulan (Brayton Road to End) $70,000;
- Braidwood Road , Tarago $35,000.
Councils were required to consider projects with road safety outcomes.
Several much awaited projects will also be brought forward, thanks to the funding. Public toilets at Tallong were originally scheduled to be built in 2020/21. It means that previously council allocated funding for the amenities can be diverted into construction of public toilets at Bungonia. That community has been lobbying for an amenities block for several years but councillors were told the community had not agreed on a location yet.
The Cookbundoon fields will also score a much-needed new amenities block sooner than expected. The council had allocated $500,000 from a reserve fund and the same amount in grant money in the 2021/22 budget for the work. It will now bring forward the allocation to complete the building by June 30, 2021.
All work under the program must be completed by that date. The government will assess the proposals and advise the council whether they meet the fund's criteria.
Councils are expected to use local businesses and workers to deliver the projects.
