Goulburn will welcome a new cycleway as the NSW Government continues to encourage active transport during the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said Transport for NSW has worked with Goulburn Mulwaree Council to fast-track the project in Goulburn.
"Work in Goulburn will include pop-up cycle lanes on Hume Street and Finlay Road connecting with established off-road shared path infrastructure to provide a designated path for cyclists," Mrs Tuckerman said.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said Goulburn was one of several regional centres across the state to benefit from enhancements to outdoor travel during the COVID-19 pandemic through the support of the NSW Government.
"It's important that we continue to invest in projects like this to help make it easier for people to travel by foot or bicycle in the regions," Mr Toole said.
"We're constantly looking at ways to increase safety and access for pedestrians and cyclists to make greater use of public outdoor space."
Goulburn Mulwaree mayor Bob Kirk said the cycling lanes will be a great addition to our active community infrastructure.
"As a council, we have been focused on a number of projects to help our community become more active and healthy, such as the river walkways and Victoria Park precinct," Cr Kirk said.
"These cycling lanes will be a great asset for our region that will make cycling safer and easier and we thank the NSW Government for the investment."
Transport for NSW is funding the work and council will implement the cycle lanes. Work is expected to be completed by end of September.
The NSW Government recognises that more people than ever before are walking or cycling to work or for leisure and fitness.
