Officer in charge at Goulburn Police Station, Inspector Matt Hinton said six vehicles parked in Goldsmith Street had their plates ripped off and stolen on the evening of Saturday, December 12.
He is asking the community for any dash cam or CCTV footage of persons on Goldsmith Street acting suspiciously during the night and early hours of Sunday.
"At this time of year, this has caused significant disruption to those persons affected by this mindless act of damage and theft and I ask the community for information to help solve this matter quickly," he said.
Police have offered the following tips to prevent serious offences and avoid the inconvenience and cost of replacing your number plates:
- Secure your number plates with one-way, anti-theft screws - they cost only a few dollars and can be fitted with a standard flat bladed screwdriver;
- Park your car in a secure place. Park off the street in a garage or carport where possible;
- Stay alert and report the theft of number plates to police as soon as possible.
