For one Goulburn resident completing her 200th blood and plasma donation felt "not as good as a lotto win, but a close second".
Kerrie Fitzsimmons started donating blood in the 1990s and completed her 200th donation on May 19, 2021.
"I am really passionate about donating blood and plasma," she said.
"I strongly believe that if you, a friend or a family member have accepted an organ, blood or plasma donation it is your duty to provide for others.
"We can't rely on a small group of people to provide all the donations. You have to give back, it's so important."
For Ms Fitzsimmons visiting the Red Cross Lifeblood centre was like "going to see friends".
"During my 200th donation they said they looked forward to the next 200," she said.
"Donating blood and plasma is not an unpleasant experience, I've been doing it for so long I don't even notice it anymore.
"If you are able to, go save a life. I would like people to stop and think that it's one way they can help others.
"I can't imagine not donating, I never want to stop unless I absolutely have to."
