Aiden Osborne appeared in Goulburn Local Court Wednesday via video link where he pleaded guilty to 18 charges including using an offensive weapon, possession of a shortened firearm, robbery, driving recklessly and driving without a licence.
The Dubbo man will face court again on April 20, just over a year after his two-day crime spree which ended with his arrest in Parramatta.
Court documents said Osborne, drove to Molong from Dubbo on April 1 last year, then, in the early hours of the next morning, he broke into a property and stole keys to a Toyota Hilux Ute.
Osborne was spotted by police on April 3, speeding on the Federal Highway near Goulburn, but didn't pull over when requested and proceeded to reach speeds of over 170 km/h.
Police then successfully used road spikes to damage one of his tyres near Marulan, forcing Osborne to take the nearby exit and bring the car to a stop.
At this stage police were forced to abandon their pursuit of Osborne due to safety concerns.
He then approached a family, yelling at them to get out of their parked car and pointing his firearm while their two-year-old child was in the back seat.
Osborne then stole the vehicle, got in and began driving, but soon crashed the newly-acquired Ford Territory into a guard rail at a Sutton Forest service station.
Finding himself in need of a second getaway car, Osborne approached a woman filling her car up at the Coles Express service station and brandished the gun at her before smashing a window while her 14-year daughter was in the car.
Police spotted Osborne north of Mittagong but were once again forced to cease their pursuit for safety reasons.
The court heard Osborne exited the highway at Campbelltown and headed towards Mt Annan, where he collided with three other cars on Narellan Road.
Undeterred, Osborne pushed on, driving to Parramatta before abandoning the car near Irving Street and fleeing.
Police had been tracking Osborne with a chopper for some time and officers closed in on him after he was observed leaving the vehicle, a firearm was also found nearby.
He was arrested at approximately 6:45pm and taken to Parramatta Police Station.
Osborne will remain in custody without bail ahead of his sentencing.
