I was shocked and dismayed that any council would vote for a motion against wind farms, such as Yass Valley has. The planet is dying due to climate change and our irresponsible burning of fossil fuels, so the sooner we change to renewable energy sources the better. What could be more important than the air we breathe and the water we drink! With such strong winds, the southern inlands are perfectly placed to be part of the solution by adopting wind energy, not opposing it.

Why deny farmers (both hosts and neighbours) in the region the opportunity to access the significant off-farm income that wind turbines bring? Why deny the many small community organisations the community enhancement funding that wind farms deliver?
Yass Valley Council needs to reconsider this stance and adopt a position that accepts wind farms and renewable energy and reaps the benefits for the whole community.
