Nicole Ingram said it was lucky someone wasn't injured when a speeding vehicle lost control and smashed into the corner of her rental home at the corner of Marys Mount Road and Monastery Drive at 8.45pm.
The impact on a rear corner of the house collapsed brickwork, broke gyprock and popped a window out.
"It was a shock. My husband was watching the football at the time and was sitting two metres away. It was lucky no one was injured," she said.
Her children, aged 15 and 17, were fortunately not home at the time. If they had been, they would have likely been sitting in the lounge room, Ms Ingram said.
By the time her husband had a chance to recover, the vehicle had reversed out and left the scene. Police are investigating.
The SES attended and removed the broken fence and provided a tarp. Ms Ingram expected the corner would have to be rebuilt. The home is insured.
Ms Ingram said people were "using the road like a speedway." There were frequent burnouts and last week, a car hit a sign near the Merino Estate entry and left the scene.
"The speed of cars using Marys Mount Road and Monastery Drive have been ridiculous lately, especially late at night," she said.
"People in the area have been expecting something like this to happen more often.
"Something needs to be done to slow the drivers down before some one is seriously injured."
