Cricket and shooting fixtures and the Goulburn Parkrun were cancelled for similar reasons.
The Cadet and Trainer Rifle event on Saturday (January 4) didn't go ahead because of a safety rule the Sporting Shooters' Association of Australia (SSAA) Goulburn and district branch has in place.

"We have a rule that we don't shoot on Total Fire Ban days," said SSAA member Jason Shepherd.
"Even though the risk of a fire starting is very low due to the nature of the rounds, we still think cancelling is the right thing to do.
"Shooting is an extremely responsible sport. We would like to think we'd be one of the last people to ever take safety lightly.
"This was the safest thing to do for the community."
The Cadet and Trainer Rifle event will be held on a future date.
The decision to hold off the start of the Allmac Cup T20 competition on Saturday (January 4) at Seiffert Oval came on Thursday evening prior after consultation among its executives.
The air quality was not improving and the weather forecast seemed to be getting worse, so they cancelled it in the interest of player welfare.
It is unknown how or if the competition will still run, but some options include Sunday games, scheduling a spare weekend available in the draw or, if more days are lost, cancelling it altogether.
The weekly Parkrun on Saturday morning at Marsden Weir off Fitzroy Street was also not on, because of poor air quality.
Goulburn Parkrun director Mick Hookham said it was a difficult decision.
"Ongoing hazardous smoke, coupled with expected extreme weather conditions, have made the course unsuitable for volunteers and participants," Hookham said.
"Hopefully, more favourable conditions will prevail next week and we can all get out and enjoy Parkrun again."
Although many were disappointed to not run, they understood it was nothing compared to what bushfire-affected communities were going through.
"Whilst we all missing our weekly Parkrun fix, our whole-hearted support goes out to the communities devastated by fires throughout Australia, including those still battling the extreme threats as we speak," Hookham said.
Conditions are expected to be much better next weekend.
