Helen Reid, meteorologist, Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said that the cold weather is a sharp reminder that winter is on the way. She further says that we will wake up to warmer days here and there but we can say goodbye to summer now.
"Summer is now officially gone. The cold air in NSW has come all the way from the south near the polar regions. It caused snowfall in Victoria and has reached as far as the New South Wales region. It's given us a nice blast that autumn has come into winter," Helen Reid, meteorologist, Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said.

"The weather here has been cold and dry with no clouds which means that temperature could drop overnight."
On Tuesday, the forecast for Goulburn states that minimum temperatures of two degrees and a patchy frost in the early morning is expected.
However, there will be a brief respite from cold weather conditions over the next few days. An increase in temperature is expected on Wednesday when the weather will be partly cloudy and windy with a minimum temperature of nine degrees Celsius.
"Tomorrow is expected to be cold. But we are expecting it to get a little warmer as the week progresses," she added.
Meanwhile, the Southern Highlands region experienced chilly weather as well. Moss Vale recorded a temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday, BoM has forecast a minimum temperature of three degrees Celsius in Bowal which will be accompanied by light winds.
