"We'll miss their leadership, enthusiasm and good humour around the school."
More than 35,000 hopeful university applicants, including those from schools in the region, can begin planning their year ahead with the release of January offers for study earlier in the week.
Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) general manager of marketing and engagement Kim Paino said universities made 35,811 offers in this round.
"That was an increase on the 34,700 offers made at the same time last year.
"Even though we've had lots of early offers already, this is the first offers that have been made to Year 12 students based on their ATAR.

"This includes not only NSW HSC students who received their results last week, but all year 12 students across Australia who had been waiting on offers to courses that rely on an ATAR for entry."
Universities have also released the Lowest Selection Rank (previously known as a cut-off) required for entry into each course.
Applicants have until midnight on Saturday, January 29 to change preferences to be included in February Round 1 on Thursday, February 3.
And if they haven't applied yet it's not too late as applications for study in semester one are open until Friday, February 4.
