After much discussion and as Dr Paviour says, a few prayers, the new work will be performed at the Orchestra's Autumn festival concert on May 9 and 10 in Strathfield Town Hall.
Dr Paviour, 90, said he'd been busy writing music for a number of organisations that were beginning to come to life "after two years of stagnation and worry."
"It is good that music is being heard again and music lovers in that part of Sydney are excited by this resurgence of creativity and performance," he said.

Dr Paviour wrote the music for the opening of Parliament House in 1988, the consecration of the Saint Saviour's Cathedral tower and many other historic occasions, including for his choir. The choir performed in the Vatican during its Italian tour, which by all reports, the Pope enjoyed.
More recently, Dr Paviour played a piano duet, The Goulburn Waltz, beside Ingrid Neubrandt at the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre's opening.
He is also a conductor and organist.
