I certainly hope he is not suggesting we should do away with our defence forces.
Maybe WWI could have been avoided and therefore WWII may not have happened, but they did.
There have always been wars throughout history.
We may not like it but, in spite of the United Nations, that’s the way it is.
The Anzac and Aussie diggers are amongst the best fighting forces in the world. Skilful, brave and courageous.
Without Monash and the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) it is doubtful whether the Allies could have prevailed in WWI.
For that we honour them and their amazing skill, exploits and bravery.
We honour them because they fought to defend our freedom, our democracy, and Dr Davies’ and everyone else’s right to freedom of speech.
And we will continue to honour them, not war, because we owe it to them.
We all hope and pray we will not get caught up in another major war, but if we are threatened we need to be prepared to stand up to defend our freedom.
Tony Morrison, Goulburn
