With the Budget due to be handed down on Tuesday, I noticed that there is nothing for transport infrastructure in the Sydney/Canberra rail corridor. Plenty of money for the big cities, but nothing for the rest of the country.

Where is Federal Member for Hume, Angus Taylor, the man who has the Prime Minister’s ear when it comes to lobbying for better transport options between Sydney and our nation’s capital? Canberra is probably the only capital city in the world that does not have direct rail connections with the rest of the country.
In this, the 21st century, it beggars belief that we are committed to a 19th century rail system. Surely, Mr Taylor, you could have pushed for your electorate and got something for a decent rail system. Of course, the fact that Hume is a safe seat for the government hasn't got anything to do with it, has it? Maybe if Hume was marginal, it might get some help, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Mr Taylor to act.
