Both the Bell and Ashton families have deep-ties to the Southern Tablelands and the Goulburn Polo Club.
“Rob played for Goulburn when Goulburn was the best polo team in Australia. Our families have always had a healthy rivalry on the field. It should make for an exciting match on the day”, Ashton said.
Robert’s sons and nephew, Henry Bell, Sinclair Bell and Ed Archibald will play for Goulburn, taking on the Muddy Flatts team of Wallace Ashton, Henry Jones and Guy Higginson.
The local community has been touched by MS and inspired by Robert’s attitude towards the disease.
“Rob has shown so much courage and such a great attitude for someone with a debilitating sickness. I’m so impressed with him – it’s an opportunity for some of us who have been really lucky in life to be able to do one small thing to support him”, Ashton said.
Founder of the Muddy Flatts Polo Club, Wallace Ashton has built a new polo field in the centre of Goulburn to host the event and hopes to use this new facility to showcase his Polo 3’s initiative.

The Kiss Goodbye to MS Polo Day will provide an opportunity for equestrian enthusiasts to experience this fast and furious polo derivative firsthand.
The day will be a nod to yesteryear, a time where community polo fixtures were a central feature of country life.
“Polo 3’s is much more accessible, and we don’t need beautiful playing fields. We can play on a sheep paddock like they did in the old days. When you come here and watch us play polo it will be exciting and help reconnect the sport with the local community.”, Ashton said.
The event organisers are calling out to local businesses to get involved and show their support for the cause.
It will be a great day out for the Goulburn community and entry for children under 18 is free.
Pack a picnic and enjoy a day of thrilling polo and family fun all in aid of a great cause.
The day will take place on Saturday October 6. The entertainment will begin at 11.00am, and the main match will begin at 2.45pm, while the festivities will continue until 8.00pm.
