Discover the Underworld
Imagine a place so ancient that it was old before the first dinosaur walked the earth. Over millions of years, a maze of underground passages, streams and caverns has developed. Known to the Aboriginal people for tens of thousands of years, they were re-discovered by Europeans in 1828 when explorers stumbled across a vast opening leading into the amazing depths below.
Wombeyan Caves feature vast caverns adorned with striking and delicate formations in a range of sizes, shapes and textures. Visitors have the option of the self-guided Figtree Cave as well as a range of guided cave tours conducted by experienced and knowledgeable National Parks guides.
The picturesque Wombeyan valley offers a range of accommodation options from camping to cabins. Call the caves office today on 02 4843 5976 or go to www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au .
