It was a mixed trial between the Bulldogs' first grade side which played the first 25 minutes and their reserve grade side.
Goulburn Workers Bulldogs coach Adam Kyle found so many positives from the day and the preseason.
"It was a really good performance from the club," Kyle said.
"We sort of got out what we needed."
"I played my first grade side for the opening quarter and the score was 16-0 at that stage.
"I was impressed with our defensive performance."
Trial matches are all about preparing for the season ahead, figuring out the best combination.
For Kyle, he learnt the side was able to be resilient in times of pressure and when on the back foot.
"West Belconnen had a fair bit of ball at us, but we stuck to our principals and when our reserve grade side started to play, they stuck to our structures.," Kyle said.
The reserve side take on Tuganong next week in their final trial and Kyle was glad as he felt it would be a good hit-out for the side again.
The first grade side don't have the luxury of another trial match though, but still have intense training until the start of the season.
"First grade will continue to keep doing some conditioning and skill work in the lead up to Queanbeyan in round one," Kyle said.
"Having said that, I'm really happy with what our club is doing at the moment and we're heading in the right direction."
The Bulldogs play the Queanbeyan Kangaroos at the Workers on Sunday, April 7 and Kyle wanted a massive turnout for the season opener.
"Make sure you come down to round one and cheer us on," he said.
"It's exciting to have two home games in a row so it would be fantastic to see as many people as we can, especially with a new look squad.
"We're certainly aiming high this year and it would be great to have Goulburn supporting us."
The Bulldogs play their second game of the season at home too, taking on the Yass Magpies.
