The pool will close from Friday, December 13 and reopen on Monday, January 13, 2020, in line with maintenance closures of previous years.

The closure period is down from six weeks to four, thanks to representations from pool users to Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman.

A spokesperson from the Southern NSW Local Health District said the routine maintenance allowed workers to clean and re-grout the pool, while also checking and changing the water filtration system.

"Other work undertaken during this time also includes the cleaning of the pool deck and change rooms and applying further non-slip floor covering for added safety," the spokesperson said.

"The health service apologises for any inconvenience and looks forward to welcoming users back to the Bourke Street Health Service Hydrotherapy Pool when maintenance is complete."

Originally, the time of closure was announced to be significantly longer, up to six weeks, but concerned constituents, mainly Patricia Morgan and Keith Binns, among others, contacted Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman and asked for a reduction in the pool closure time.

"A number of constituents contacted my office in regards to an extended closure of the Goulburn Hydrotherapy Pool over six weeks during December and January," Mrs Tuckerman said.

"I was able to make representations to NSW Health to have this closure reduced to just four weeks.

"The Hydrotherapy Pool is incredibly valuable to the community, as I witnessed today by the number of people using the pool, a whole range of conditions can be treated through regular hydrotherapy.

"If you're looking for gentle exercise in a wonderful environment, anyone is welcome to visit and use the pool and entry is just $5."

Meanwhile, Mr Binns said he was glad the pool was not closing for six weeks.

"I wrote to Wendy Tuckerman, but I was not the only one," Mr Binns said.

"It was a group effort and, of course I am pleased. With the changes at the hospital it is important to make sure the town has hydrotherapy with the same level of service as we now have."
