Most of the weekend's sporting fixtures were cancelled after nearly 150mm of rain fell between Thursday and Monday, and many of the local grounds are yet to dry.
"The recent rain has left [these fields] at saturation point and in some instances still under water," the council wrote in a Facebook post yesterday afternoon.
Almost every code from rugby league, soccer, netball, and hockey, among others, were forced to reschedule or outright cancel their fixtures over the weekend.
While the continued closures of council grounds may not affect many official matches throughout the week, training for many of the teams and associations who use the fields will be impacted.
Council thanked the community for its understanding and said brief closures now will produce a longer-term benefit.
"We apologise for the inconvenience but not using the fields for a short period will ensure we can continue to play our organised competitions for the remainder of the season," council wrote.
"Staff will review the fields each day and notify the sports council if there is a change."
The only council facilities which will remain open are Veolia Arena and the Grace Millsom Centre at the Goulburn Recreation Area.
