Employment Land Strategy
I am pleased to let the community know that the Employment Land Strategy, adopted by the council in December 2016, has been endorsed by the NSW Government Department of Planning and Environment. This endorsement allows us to move forward with implementation of the recommendations.

The strategy will work as a tool to guide economic development and opportunity in Goulburn Mulwaree. It highlights transport, health care and tourism as key industries as well as other significant potential areas of future growth. Recommended action within the ELS includes rezoning to allow land to be more appropriately utilised in a number of areas around our region. The ELS found industrial land is affordable and stable within Goulburn Mulwaree (a key competitive advantage), and also estimated that there will be an undersupply of retail floor space in the CBD by 2031 – the good news is this undersupply won’t require rezoning or expansion of the CBD boundaries, but will be met by utilisation of current vacant or underdeveloped sites.
The Employment Land Strategy is available to view on our website.
Council meeting
We had quite a large agenda to work through on Tuesday night, and it ended up being one of the latest council meetings I’ve been involved in! The council made a number of important decisions:
We accepted and approved the tender for dwp Australia for a detailed design for the Goulburn Aquatic Centre redevelopment.
Councillors resolved to give deferred commencement consent for a quarry at 984 Bullamalita Road, subject to the Voluntary Planning Agreement that was endorsed in June.
The extension concept plan for Tait Crescent and Lockyer Street was endorsed, with staff now to commence negotiations to acquire land for use as public road. This project is being undertaken to alleviate traffic pressure in South Goulburn.
Council moved to defer the trial installation of trees in roundabouts pending more detailed costing from staff for the project.
