Spring has sprung and the bees have been buzzing.

Conditions are ripe for gardens, though a little rain will be welcome. Lilac Garden competition organiser, Ken May is reminding people that entries in the popular event close next Monday, September 18.

Participants can submit for up to three categories on the entry form. They are:

  • Senior Citizen (over 60 yrs) garden;
  • First time garden entry;
  • Front garden;
  • Back garden;
  • Fruit and/or vegetable garden;
  • Commercial or Institutional garden;
  • Heritage garden;
  • Primary School (student garden).

Prizes will be awarded in each category. There will also be a perpetual trophy and prize for best overall garden donated by Zantis Jewellers and the “Betty-Jane May Memorial trophy” donated by Mr May.

Entry forms are available at the Goulburn Visitors Information and the Gehl Garden Centre. Judging by Audrey Tabner and Robyn Simpson will take place on either September 21, 22 or 23. Entrants will be advised of the day. The competition is part of the 66th annual Lilac City Festival which will be held from September 29 to October 2.
