SUMMER PIE DRIVE
The summer pie drive has commenced, courtesy of Bryant's Pies. Order forms have been emailed out, but if you haven't received one, please send an email to towrangnoticeboard@yahoo.com.au and we will get one to you. Delivery is Friday, November 17 from 4pm-5pm at the Towrang Hall.
This is a great time to get in some fruit pies, party pies and sausage rolls, mini quiche, slices and cakes for all those parties that come up at this time of the year.
BRIGADE NEWS
A reminder that the 2017-2018 bushfire season began on October 1. If you wish to do some hazard reduction you will need to apply to the brigade for a permit. Contact Phillip Ohlback on 0438 298 271 for details. Once you have the permit, the procedure is the same - contact Fire Com, notify your neighbours, send a text prior to lighting up. Be aware of weather conditions as the issue of a permit does not give you the freedom to go ahead and light up regardless.
Do you have a bushfire survival plan in place? The NSW RFS website has a resource tool available: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare/bush-fire-survival-plan. You can also make your bush fire survival plan with the MyFirePlan app, available on iOS and Android.
Have you received a copy of our latest newsletter and donation form? If not, please contact the duty phone on 0438 298 271 and we will send you one. The newsletter has a list of contact numbers and your annual donation helps to keep our brigade operational, for which we thank you. Bank details are on the donation form, or contact the brigade by email to TowrangBrigade@gmail.com.
MEET COUNCILLORS
The Council Outreach Meeting is on Thursday, November 16 from 6.30pm. Come along, meet the councillors and staff and make your concerns and queries known. All questions are requested to be sent to council at least one week prior to the meeting by phoning 4823 4486 or emailing council@goulburn.nsw.gov.au. This allows sufficient time for the correct information to be obtained. Alternatively, the Progress Group is be compiling a list and would be happy to include your questions (anonymously if you prefer). Please send an email to towrangnoticeboard@yahoo.com.au no later than Friday, November 3.
MAIL TRAIL
Are you planning your letterbox/gate decorations for this year's Yuletide Mail Trail competition? Time is running out. Start decorating from November 24, finishing by December 8. Judging will be done after that with the winner announced on December 31.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
A reminder for your diary: the Community Christmas Party is on Saturday, December 9 from 5pm at the Towrang Hall. All residents of the Towrang Valley (including Big Hill and Greenwich Park) are invited along, and don't forget to bring your family and visitors. BYO drinks and nibbles, a barbecue meal is provided. If you wish to bring something, a slice or cake for dessert would be appreciated.
Santa has informed us that he will be dropping by, so bring a wrapped and labelled gift (to the value of $10) for your child to help him out. We will be having our raffles again and donations of non-perishable goods and Christmassy items for our hamper and other prizes would be greatly appreciated. These can be dropped off at the fire station of a Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning or bring them along on our Friday night social gathering. For raffle tickets phone Myrna on 4829 8236.
