Super Stags lineup
Jacob “Wintnado” Winters: Captain and bowler who claimed 14 wickets and made 121 runs this season. Jacob took on the captaincy this season and whilst his motto of “if it’s green, we bowl” is a questionable one, considering synthetic is always green, has had a successful first season in charge of the Super Stags. Handy with some spin bowling late in the innings, Jacob is often heard refusing the request of a fly slip every over and will not move from short cover all game.
Michael “Stormy” Storm: Vice Captain. Batsman - 239 runs & 6 wickets. A brilliant bloke to play alongside and will do anything for the boys around him. Stormy has the ability to switch from a watchful batsman to an aggressive one at the drop of a hat and will be looking to go big in the final, after scoring a neat 55 in the major semi. His shot selection makes it hard to set a field to and offers handy spin bowling when called upon.
Jacob “Deb” Mutton: Bowler - 18 wickets. Jake has been a key part to the Super Stags bowling line up this season, his pace and swing will be a game changer come Saturday. Jake will be looking to take out a 5 wicket haul that’s escaped his grasp a couple times this season. Jake is very capable of producing a moment of brilliance with the ball to break partnerships and open the game up for his team.
Robby “Shiner” Dorsett: Batsman – 32 runs & 4 wickets. In Robby’s first season playing cricket he has taken on all challenges that have come his way. He has a solid technique when it comes to batting along with his underrated ability to keep the ball shined during the bowling innings, which is a crucial part to the team’s successful bowling attack. Safe hands in the field and is a big part of the overall team morale with his bright and chirpy nature.
Aaron “Swanny” Swanson: All Rounder – 198 runs & 12 wickets. Swanny has a safe pair of hands taking 10 catches this season as well as a run out. Swanny is a trustworthy middle order batsman and he contributed in the major semi-final with a match winning 59 not out, hitting a 4 off the last ball to put Super Stags into the Grand final. Look for Swanny to throw himself around in the field and for his expansive shot selection when batting.
Frazer “Fraz” Owen: Wicket keeper – 12 catches, 1 stumping & 88 runs. Fraz has taken on the duties of wicket keeping this season after falling in love with the position late last year when he was randomly generated to keep one game. Has improved out of sight this season and is a genuine slogger when it comes to batting. Has the ability to go big and score quickly and can quickly turn a game on its head with his ability to score freely late in the innings.
Tyler “Ty Dolla” Hollingworth: All Rounder – 24 wickets & 145 runs. Tyler is the Super Stags leading wicket taker this season with his impeccable medium pace line and length bowling. Whilst as a batter Tyler will take his time to build an innings, once he has that start he will score freely. Tyler’s highlight this season was a sensational 5 wickets for 0 runs off 1.3 overs midway through the season, where he had the ball doing all sorts of crazy things.
Jarrod “Twaddy” Twaddell: Batsman – 371 runs. Twaddy has been in brilliant form these past few weeks, including a recently hit 163 not out. A very handy fieldsman taking 8 catches this season mostly in the slips cordon, Twaddy is an integral part to the Super Stags batting line up. Whilst being Super Stags top run scorer this season, in all honesty he is yet to reach his full potential and will be looking to score big. A chirpy fieldsman who has the ability to fire up the team and keep everyone motivated.
Jarred “Sticky” Hunt: Bowler – 19 wickets & 116 runs. Jarred is a dangerous opening bowler and will be looking to come out all guns blazing on Saturday. Jarred consistently bowls a tight line and length. His brute speed makes him a very tough opening bowler for the new batsman to score from. Jarred is a very capable batsman as well, contributing over 100 runs from the lower order and more often than not finishes with a not out next to his name. Keep an ear out for Sticky Hunt’s A Class banter whilst fielding.
Jeremy “Crimpy” Mutton: All Rounder – 16 wickets & 185 runs. Jez is a confident swing bowler and is happy to bat anywhere in the order. Jez is capable of holding down an end and rarely gets tied down, scoring freely and often once his eye is in. His swing bowling with the new ball is scary at times and Jez has contributed to the wickets column consistently throughout the season. Jez thrives on crimpies and will be often found protecting the packet on the day to ensure all teammates get a fair share.
Daniel “Hunty” Hunt: Bowler – 19 wickets. Hunty has contributed greatly to Super Stags this season, taking crucial wickets with his dangerous swing bowling. Hunty’s height allows him to generate a dangerous amount of pace and mixed with swing, makes him a difficult bowler to face. Dan is the ultimate club man, always happy to just be a part of the game and not really fazed on if he bats or bowls. Hunty has been a valuable pick up this season and will contribute the Super Stags’ already vicious bowling line up this weekend.
Jason “Broady” Broadbent: Batsman – 224 runs. Broady is the team and PR manager, and the heart and soul of Super Stags. Broady will constantly look out for his team and keep them all posted on game day weather and where the games are played. A keen opening batsman that always gets us off to a start, he will always get in behind the ball and have lavish shots that continue to impress. The Super Stags would be lost without Broady and his Chicken Crimpies.
Honourable mentions also go to Tommy James, Blake Esson, Dylan Maddock, Ben Stace and all other 1st grade players and ex-players who at one point in the season filled in and helped us out. Thank you all for a great season!
