We will be applying for $400,000 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund for Riverside Park which would be located within the Mary’s Mount suburb. This grant application, along with the section 94 fees as part of the ongoing development in this area, will allow us to create an amazing space for this suburb.
The concept plan shows Riverside Park will be well connected with shared pedestrian pathways linking different sections of the park, while bridges will also create features over waterways. A pathway will also run along to the Gibson Street Bridge enabling users to connect with the River Walkway. It would feature multiple access points from Lambert Drive, Mewburn Drive, Greenvalley Road and the newly constructed Tillage subdivision as well as being accessible from Warrigal Age Care.
Rocky Hill upgrade
Work will begin next week at Rocky Hill on the car park upgrade and landscaping works, the start of the project that will see a new museum constructed.
The carpark upgrade will increase spaces available to visitors, include disabled car parking and a large bus turning circle and drop off bay. During the works the Rocky Hill site, including Memorial Road, will be closed to the public for approximately 12 weeks.
We will be calling for tenders for construction of the new Rocky Hill Memorial Museum in the coming months and hope to begin work in the second half of 2018.
Council meeting results
This week’s council meeting was a particularly long one with a number of important decisions made for the city’s infrastructure, community projects and new investment in our region.
Council considered the Section 64 Water & Sewer fees for Brewpack who are setting up at South Goulburn. They purchased this property a few years ago now but are ramping up to be running by September. We want to support Brewpack but ensure they pay their fair share of costs; on Tuesday night we moved to offer Brewpack a delayed payment schedule for the Section 64 fees as well as offering them an incentive which is conditional upon Brewpack achieving at least 10 new jobs (full-time equivalent) created each year.
We appointed a tender for detailed design of the Re-Use Goulburn Facility (Waste Management Centre). This design will include a new weighbridge, resource recovery building, recycling centre and much more.
We will promote a number of projects for round 2 of the Stronger Communities Fund; this includes a number of village projects, the new Riverside Park in Mary’s Mount, the next stage of the River Walkway and more.
A number of amendments to the Goulburn Mulwaree Development Control Plan relating to heritage and archaeological matters were placed on public exhibition for 28 days.
