Goulburn-Canberra Bus
It has now been a month of operation for this service which is being run by Marulan Coaches after Greyhound buses chose to discontinue their service last year. When Greyhound pulled out there was an uproar from our community who stated this service was essential – yet I’m disappointed to report that numbers on the coach are still very low.

The timetable is available on the Marulan Coaches website, but to summarise: you can jump on the bus at 7am and be in Civic, Canberra by 8.15am. The return service leaves at 5.15pm and is back in Goulburn by 6.20pm. If you need any further information please contact Marulan Coaches on 4841 1633. I’d encourage those travelling to Canberra to make use of this!
Operational/Delivery Plan
On Tuesday night, councillors moved to place our Draft Operation Plan and Budget 2018/19 on public exhibition until Friday, May 18.
We have worked on this in conjunction with staff during briefing sessions throughout the first three months of the year and believe it sets out a great vision for the financial year ahead. Both the four-year budget and the Long Term Financial Plan have been developed to ensure we continue to meet the Fit for the Future criteria.
A number of major projects are included in 2018/19, such as the continuation of the River Walkway, purchase of land for a Community Centre, construction of the Performing Arts Centre, continuing work towards development of a Regional Hockey Complex and much more.
Council welcomes community comment on the document, and submitters are also invited to speak on their submission at the meeting on the 5th June 2018. Make your voice heard!
New waste service in May
Goulburn Mulwaree Council will offer the first ever free disposal weekend for domestic mattresses, fridges, air conditioners and e-waste on May 5-6.
Residents of the region will be able to dispose of domestic mattresses, refrigerators, air conditioners, and e-waste (televisions, computers, printers, fax machines and computer accessories only) for free during the weekend at each waste centre in Goulburn, Marulan and Tarago.
Previously there was no opportunity to dispose of this material without cost as this type of waste wasn’t included in our council clean-up week.
We have had a number of businesses contact us and state that they are interested in helping residents who are unable to get their own waste to the tip over this weekend. I’d encourage businesses to advertise that they are providing this service as we are fielding some enquiries from residents, and I also invite any other businesses who are interested in providing this service to contact us on 4823 4444 and ask to speak with the Waste Team.
