Some of the topics for discussion were:
What makes a mother? What is the hardest thing about being a mum? What is the best thing? Do you think children raised by a father miss out on having a mother? And are they as well adjusted as children who have a mother in their life? Share a little about your own mother. And what has been the biggest surprise about motherhood?
These topics were very keenly debated and all members participated and enjoyed the discussion.
One of the comments about the hardest thing about being a mum was: Children don’t come with an instruction manual.
So you learn by trial and error (which is very true, as I’m sure all mother’s would agree!).
Margaret O’Neill was presented with a small present as a thank you for joining us on the day.
There were 26 members present and one apology.
Jenny Aubrey, Carol Olsen and Wendy Strauch all have birthdays in May, and it was very pleasing to see Dot McCabe at View as she has spent time in hospital after having a fall.
Brenda visited Iris Roberts, Judith Roper and Dot McCabe as part of the Welfare Committee.
The raffles were won by Margaret O’Neill, Jenny Townsend, Dawn Carey and Barbara Creese and the lucky door prizes were won by Leila Dunn and Margaret Gooch.
Our next social outing will be to the Eling Forest Winery on Thursday May 17.
Please meet at the Soldiers Club at 9.30am to leave at 10am.
Our next Luncheon will be at the Goulburn Soldiers Club on Thursday June 7 and new members are very welcome to attend.
If attending, please notify Margaret Gooch by 7pm the Monday prior to the Luncheon.
