The enthusiastic crowd, representing many organisations and some local businesses, threw in suggestions for the proposed long weekend in October 2019.
These included: an old time ball, a sheep muster, stalls, tree planting, a fun run or half marathon, car clubs, modern or vintage, street parade with buskers, a visit by a TV or radio celebrity, camp fire cooking and recognition of the indigenous people.
One person is already working on a history of the beginnings of the district.
Organisations not at the meeting will be approached for their ideas and participation in the weekend, so that there will be three full days of fun to entertain residents and visitors both very young, middle of the road and quite old.
A core committee was formed with Peter Davies and Graham Lambert (as leaders) plus Kristy O’Sullivan, Michael Chalker, Andrew Moore, Colin Chalker, Karina Rees, Bronwyn Sullivan, Mary Chalker and Max Keith.
It is expected that each organisation or group of organisations, will be responsible for their segment of the festival.
It was suggested that we would need a theme – perhaps someone not at the meeting would have an idea.

HEDLEYS COME BACK TO TARALGA
The five Hedley children, Meika, Bill, Alison, Mark and Michael took their mother, Rowena, with more than 40 family members, to the Argyle Inn to celebrate her 83rd birthday. Unfortunately Rowe’s husband, Bill, was too unwell to attend. The Hedley family owned the hotel for over 20 years. It is 30 years ago in June that the family sold the business. Rowena and the children had many memories of those years and were amazed at the transformation of the hotel and the refurbishments made.

A GOOD DAY’S SHOPPING
A bus load of happy shoppers from Taralga and Bigga MeetUp groups spent a day shopping in Canberra and Queenbeyan last Thursday. A very happy day was spent with bargains filling the bus for the homeward journey.
The group in Taralga meet every Thursday with a varied program including quizzes, crafts and charity work. (Kay always has something unexpected to challenge brains and keep our minds active.)
There’s lunch ($10) and a lot of laughs and no hard and fast rules about attendance
